At Wildwood Veterinary Clinic, we ensure that all pets receive safe and effective medications. To maintain our high standards of care and provide you with peace of mind, we have established the following prescription policy:
Purchasing Prescriptions
- In-Clinic & Vetsource Online Pharmacy: We encourage clients to purchase medications directly from our clinic or through our Vetsource online pharmacy. By using these trusted sources, you ensure that your pet’s medications are sourced directly from manufacturers and handled properly.
- Vetsource Discounts: We also have access to Vetsource discount codes that are not visible to clients on the platform. Just ask us for a code to help you save on your pet’s medications.
- Handwritten Prescriptions: If you prefer to fill your pet’s prescription elsewhere, we are happy to provide a written prescription. Handwritten prescriptions can be picked up at the clinic during business hours.
Medication Requests
- Via Our App or Phone: You can easily request your pet’s medication refills through the Wildwood Veterinary Clinic app, available for download from Google Play or Apple’s App Store, or by calling our clinic at (503) 477-4757. For in-clinic pickups, please allow 24-48 hours for processing.
Gray Market Medications
- What is the Gray Market?: The gray market refers to medications that are sold through unauthorized or diverted channels, such as certain online pharmacies and large retail stores. These medications may not be handled or stored properly, which can affect their quality and safety.
- Why Avoid Gray Market Products?: When buying from unauthorized sources, such as some big-box retailers or certain online pharmacies, medications may lack proper storage or authenticity guarantees from the manufacturer. These gray market medications may have been exposed to extreme temperatures or handled improperly, putting your pet’s health at risk.
- Chewy: Chewy is considered part of the gray market for many medications. For prescription food, Chewy accepts digital prescriptions. However, for other medications, they require a written prescription to be mailed. Please note that we cannot guarantee the integrity of medications purchased through Chewy or other gray market outlets, as the manufacturers may not stand behind these products.
Refills
- In-Clinic Refills: If your pet requires a refill, please call the clinic or request it via our app 24-48 business hours in advance to ensure the medication is ready for pickup.
- Online Refills via Vetsource: Clients using our Vetsource online pharmacy can request refills directly through the pharmacy portal. Allow adequate time for processing and shipping.
Medication Rechecks
- Annual Exams: For chronic conditions, we require an annual check-up to ensure your pet’s medication is still appropriate and effective. This helps us monitor your pet’s health and adjust dosages if needed.
- Lab Testing: Some medications may require routine bloodwork to ensure your pet’s health. We will advise you of any necessary testing.
Controlled Substances
- Additional Protocols: For controlled substances, a physical exam is required within the last six months. These medications are subject to stricter dispensing protocols.
Travel & Special Requirements
- Traveling with Pets: For air travel, some pets may need a sedative prescription or microchip documentation. Notify us in advance to ensure all necessary medications and paperwork are prepared.
Why Choose Us?
Safety & Trust: By purchasing medications directly from Wildwood Veterinary Clinic or Vetsource, you can trust that the products are sourced directly from the manufacturer, stored properly, and backed by the manufacturer’s guarantees.
